1) 下記の英訳文はどこを直すべきでしょうか？

（原文） 「その国は石油を海外に輸出し、食料品を輸入している。」
（受講生訳） The country exports oil to foreign countries and imports food.








＜解説＞

export「輸出する」だけで、海外に商品を出荷することは分かりますので、to foreign countriesは不要です。

(正解)
The country exports oil to foreign countries and imports food.

The country exports oil and imports food.






難易度☆☆中級

2) 下記の英訳文はどこを直すべきでしょうか？

（原文）　 「私は料理と読書、そしてゴルフをすることが好きです。」
（受講生訳） I like cooking, reading, and to play golf.









＜解説＞

英語では、内容が似たものは同じパターンで表現します。
たとえば、
×　in spring, in summer, and winter

ではなく、
○ in spring, summer, and winter
(またはin spring, in summer, and in winter)

のようにして、一貫したパターンを守ります。問題の英文では、cooking, readingと動名詞が続いた後に、to play golfと不定詞が使われていて、この原則が守られていません。そこで、これを、golfing正解のようにすると、同じパターンの単語が並びます。

(正解)
I like cooking, reading, and to play golf.

I like cooking, reading, and golfing.
